I am a trainee about to embark on my 4^th year of renal training in Wales. My training is 5 years long with the option to apply to take time out of training for a PHD or MD if desired. My main area of interest is centred around medical education and I chose to undertake a specific qualification in this field. I am currently in my 2^nd year of a 3-year part-time medical education MSc delivered through Cardiff University. The course involves 2 face-to-face teaching days every few months.

• Option to do the e-learning course, rather than face-to-face

Cons:

• Philosophical style of essay writing initially quite daunting, but lots of guidance given
• Fitting in assignments around work commitments sometimes difficult
